Class Behavior
There is zero tolerance for poor behavior. Any student who cannot conduct themselves according to school rules will be dealt with according to the JCPS Student Code of Conduct.
In the fourth grade we use behavior charts. Behaviors are represented by the following colors: Blue-Excellent, Green-Good, Yellow-Fair, and Red-Poor. Please look for your child’s behavior color in their agendas daily. Students receive color changes for the following reasons: excessive talking, being disrespectful, not keeping hands to themselves, not following directions, poor restroom behavior, poor hallway behavior, poor cafeteria behavior, not having their agenda, not having a signature, not having homework, being off-task, and for not being prepared.
**Daily agendas and bi-weekly progress reports must be signed. It is considered homework.**
Every Friday students earn either detention or Lunch Bunch based on their behavior throughout the week. Students earn detention by earning more than 3 color changes during the week, earning a "red" any day during the week, or failing to turn in their homework any day during the week.
Every twenty school days we have a 20 Day celebration! This is to show appreciation for our students who have had good behavior for those days. Each color from our behavior chart has a number that goes along with it. Blue equals 4 points, green equals 3 points, yellow is two points and red is one point. Even when your child has a bad day and earns a red they still get one point for it. I think that this is more than fair. By the end of the twenty days students must have at least 68 points to attend the party.
Birthdays- Any treats that are brought in for the class on your child's birthday must be eaten in the lunchroom during lunch time. Also, due to peanut allergies, we ask that you not bring anything containing nuts. Thank you!!
